Icon of the Seventy Apostles
Icon
I have no further description, at this time
An icon or ikon is a religious work of art, most commonly a painting, in the cultures of the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, the Roman Catholic, and certain Eastern Catholic churches. They are not simply artworks; "an icon is a sacred image used in religious devotion". More on this work
The Council of seventy holy apostles was established by the Orthodox Church in order to show the equality of each of them and thereby prevent differences in their veneration. They were chosen by the Lord Jesus Christ to preach the gospel to the whole universe. Each of the seventy apostles also has separate days of remembrance.
After the Descent of the Holy Spirit, the Twelve Apostles made Philip a deacon in the Church of Jerusalem. Along with the other six deacons, they appointed him to deal with the offerings of the faithful and attend to the concerns of the widowed, the orphaned and the needy.

Simon is on the right, wearing black.
Avanzino Nucci (c. 1552–1629) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance period. He trained with Niccolò Circignani (il Pomarancio). Bernardino Gagliardi was one of his pupils. His paintings can be found in the Roman churches of San Rocco all'Augusteo, San Silvestro al Quirinale, and San Paolo fuora le Mura. Some more paintings dated 1596 are in the portico of the former Carthusian Monastery and now museum of San Martino in Naples. They depict the Foundation of the Carthusian order by St Bruno of Cologne, the Approval of the order by the Pope Urban II and the Meeting of the Saint with the Norman king Roger I of Sicily. More on Avanzino Nucci
Among the disciple’s converts was the noted magician Simon, who “after being baptized, continued with Philip.”
